Congratulations to IEMS undergraduate students Jessica Cleveland, Taniqua Gillyard, Lindsey Grinels, Paul Murno and James Reid! The students’ technical paper was recognized with a 2nd place award in the Undergraduate Student Technical Paper Competition held at the 2012 IIE Southeast Regional Conference hosted by the Auburn University IIE Chapter in Auburn, AL Feb 16-19. The students’ paper, which was entitled “Improving a Hospital Trayline through the Application of Lean Techniques”, competed with five other papers from 11 of the 15 Southeast region university chapters in attendance.
Congratulations to Dr. Christopher D. Geiger, as he is one of two recipients of the 2012 Award for Excellence in Professional Service for the College of Engineering and Computer Science. This award recognizes faculty members within the College who have demonstrated a record of excellence in service to the University and to their profession. Dr. Geiger will be honored along with the other student and faculty recipients of excellence awards at the UCF Founder’s Day Convocation on April 4, 2012.
Dr. Haitham Bahaitham was selected to receive the 2011-2012 University Award for the Outstanding Dissertation. His dissertation titled “A Framework for Quantifying Sustainability of Lean Implementation in Healthcare Organizations” was recognized for exemplary research in the field of Industrial Engineering.
Dr. Luis Rabelo was awarded the Distinguished Engineering Educator Award at the nation’s largest annual National Engineers Week Honors & Awards Banquet by the Engineers’ Council. Dr.

Congratulations to Dr. Jennifer Pazour who was awarded the prestigious 2013 Young Investigator Award from ONR. The receipt of this award is an outstanding recognition as one of the top up and coming young faculty in the nation. This is among only 16 awards made nationwide awarded to young faculty members who show exceptional promise for doing creative research.
The Industrial Engineering graduate program has earned a top-40 ranking in the U.S. News & World Report Best Graduate Schools guide.
The program placed No. 35 in the nation in rankings for Best Grad Schools, up 13 spots from last year.
